are weighing up a move for Inter Milan stopper Andre Onana, according to reports, as they consider multiple routes of action in the transfer market.

Erik ten Hag has been open about his desire to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer, despite current No 1 David de Gea picking up the Golden Glove gong last term. 

However, the Spanish stopper's contract is up this summer, with at Old Trafford, leaving the Red Devils with numerous possible paths to take in terms of goalkeeping recruits.

As a result, the club has been linked with a number of targets this summer, , who has also been heavily linked with rivals Tottenham and , but they are also preparing alternatives should De Gea stay on.

Onana is a player that Ten Hag knows well, having worked alongside the Cameroonian stopper at Ajax. 

Key to the Red Devils' interest in the Inter star is his ability to play with his feet - a well-documented shortcoming of De Gea's. 

A goalkeeper is not thought to be a priority currently for United, who are more interested in bringing in a striker and central midfielder, but should De Gea's contract run up, then that would understandably change. 

The Spaniard has had offers from the club to remain in place, and although he is thought to have agreed in principle, nothing has yet been signed. 

In prolonging his 12-year stay at the club, he would also likely pave the way for Dean Henderson to be moved on to Nottingham Forest, with the Tricky Trees waiting to learn De Gea's fate before lining up a bid. 

In that instance, The Athletic reports that United might change their direction and look to sign a younger stopper who can be developed at the club, which would be an alternative route that the club are prepared to take if needed. 

Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht is one such option, having been previously scouted, although they would face competition from Burnley and Brighton. 

The lack of clarity in between the sticks was perhaps best evidenced by their decision to extend Tom Heaton's stay, dicas despite his lack of playing time, with Jack Butland moving to Rangers leaving them thin in the ranks.
